- Remember, Minks, Foxes, and other animals don’t have umbrellas. The warmth and durability of fur has made it a favorite for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
- If you’re caught in the rain, just shake it to remove the excess moisture and hang till dry.
- If you get it soaking wet (and we mean soaking) bring it Diane Furs and we’ll make sure the coat is as good as new. Any problem will surface in the leather lining, to prevent damage, we’ll treat that lining.
How often do I need to have my fur garment cleaned?
- Diane Furs recommends you have it cleaned at least once every other year. The process serves to remove dirt and pollutants that may be destructive. We recondition your garment by restoring oils and then glazing which restores the fur’s luster resulting in a shiner and softer feel.
- When you bring in your fur to Diane Furs to be cleaned, we’ll also examine your fur for any loose linings or anything else that needs to be corrected or repaired.
- Diane Furs cleans and restores your fur regardless of where you brought it. We clean right here on the premises!
- Due to inclement weather this season your garment should be thoroughly checked for signs of mold and mildew.
Why must I store my fur in cold storage?
- Diane Furs has cold storage vaults on the premises that protect fur from drying out. You can’t get this kind of protection by hanging your fur in the closet or depending upon your home air conditioner because of humidity. Air conditioners DO NOT control the humidity and can dry out your fur.
- Your fur represents a significant investment in your sense of style, fashion awareness and cost. Just like any valuable investment, you want to protect it and give you years of use, therefore store your fur in the summer!
- Cedar chest or closet DOES NOT have refrigerant or humidity controls. So although it may be fine to store cashmere and wool garments, it is not advisable to store furs in one.
